The truth about bottled water

We've all been reading and seeing the feeding frenzy against bottled water. I've been wondering lately who is actually behind all the misinformation, yellow journalism and at times outright lies. The truth is that water bottles don't contain cancer causing BPA's, water bottles are made from a waste by product and not petroleum dedicated just for making water bottles. Plastic is not filling up our landfills, plastic only accounts for about 2% of the waste in a landfill...most of the trash is from construction waste. The truth is that there are more plastic bottles manufactured for other beverages than water. The question is why is someone so concerned with how I spend my money? Why aren't you concerned about the price of a gallon of gas rather than what I spend on a bottle of water? When the facts aren't supported anti-bottle movements resort to name calling...is that productive? One thing we can agree on is that plastic is a problem, all plastic, not just water bottles, and something needs to be done about eliminating all plastic waste. The answers are clear...use, reuse, recycle and reclaim the resource once the useful life of the plastic is over. Thankfully, plastics are changing and biodegradable plastic is becoming more available. If you want change do it with your pocketbook and only buy products which are packaged in sustainable packaging. Remember, there are a lot of small businesses that bottle their spring water (Yes some bottled water is actually spring water). Those businesses and the people that work for them are counting on their business providing a living form them and their families.
